Ms. Monica Dominguez

Ms. Monica G. Dominguez is the Director of Bands at Hurst Junior High School. Ms. Dominguez is a native of San Antonio, TX. She received her Bachelor's degree in Music Education, with honors, and her Master's degree in Woodwind Performance from the University of North Texas. While at UNT, she performed with the Wind Symphony under the direction of Mr. Eugene M. Corporon and the Symphonic Band under the direction of Mr. Dennis Fisher. Participation in these premier musical organizations afforded her the unique opportunity to contribute to numerous significant recording endeavors.
Ms. Dominguez is the Head Director of Bands at Hurst Junior High School. Her responsibilities include directing the Honors Band, assisting with the Symphonic Band, teaching all woodwind classes, and overseeing the daily operations of the entire Hurst Band program. She previously held positions at McMath Middle School (Denton ISD) and at Forest Meadow Junior High (RISD). Ms. Dominguez led the FMJH Symphonic Band to consistent Sweepstakes Awards and to an Honor Band State Finals appearance where the Symphonic Band placed in the Top Ten. Her bands at McMath MS and Hurst JH Honors Band have also received numerous Sweepstakes Awards and Superior Ratings at Spring Festivals. The Hurst JH Band was awarded Outstanding Middle School Band in 2012, 2025, and 2026 and Outstanding Percussion in 2023 and 2024 at the Dallas Wind Symphony Invitational Festival.
Ms. Dominguez is an active performer, clinician, and adjudicator. Ms. Dominguez has performed with the Lone Star Wind Orchestra and many musical theater productions and was honored to perform at the World Saxophone Congress in 2003, the Midwest International Band and Orchestra Convention in 2012, and the Texas Bandmasters Convention in 2026. She is also a founding member of the Yellow Rose Saxophone Quartet. Her professional affiliations include Sigma Alpha Iota, Texas Music Educators Association, and Texas Bandmasters Association. Although her family resides across the great State of Texas and further south into Monterrey, Mexico, they are never far from her heart.
Ms. Jordyn Gonzalez
Mr. Matthew Kossick

Matt Kossick is an Associate Band Director and Director of Percussion at L.D. Bell High School. Mr. Kossick directs all percussion activities for the entire L.D. Bell cluster, which includes Bedford Junior High, Hurst Junior High, and Central Junior High. During his tenure with the L.D. Bell Blue Raider Band, the band has been a Bands of America DFW Regional Finalist, BOA Waco and North Texas Regional Champions, San Antonio Super Regional Finalist, and attended the UIL 6A State marching contest. Mr. Kossick’s Concert groups have received multiple awards including outstanding percussion at both the HS and MS level of the Dallas Winds Invitational. Previously, from 2019-2021, Mr. Kossick was the Assistant Percussion Director at Trinity High School. During that time, he also directed the Harwood Junior High Percussion Ensemble that won both the Midwest and Percussive Arts Society International Percussion Ensemble competitions during the 2019-2020 school year. Mr. Kossick earned his Master’s of Music degree in Percussion Performance at the University of Miami. During his graduate studies, he served as a teaching assistant for the University of Miami Athletic Bands. He received his Bachelor’s degree in Music Education from the University of North Texas. Mr. Kossick was also awarded the Outstanding Undergraduate in Percussion award for the 2017-2018 school year. Outside of school, Mr. Kossick spent three summers participating in Drum Corps International. In 2015 Mr. Kossick was a member of the front ensemble of the Troopers Drum Corps. During the 2016 and 2017 seasons, Mr. Kossick performed with the Santa Clara Vanguard front ensemble. The SCV percussion section won the Fred Sanford high percussion achievement award for both of these seasons.
